We are sharing our stamps again!  It's double the designing fun as we reveal our projects using the same Penny Black stamps.

Wasn't Elizabeth's clean and simple card with Penny Black Berry Bevy such fun?  For my card I've featured the emboss resist technique to create snowy and frosty branches.

I hope you have a wonderful "almost Christmas" Tuesday! Thanks for joining us over the past several weeks for our Penny Black Pairings

Time for a bevy of berries...

To begin, Berry Bevy was stamped in teal ink and then the branches were shadowed with light grey.  The berries were enhanced with a red PITT Pastel Pencil along with highlights added with a white Sakura gel pen.  Underneath, a small strip of Beau Jardins patterned paper was attached.

The sentiment panel is an elevated piece of white cardstock matted along the bottom edge with Summer Sun cardstock.  The greeting (Peace & Harmony) was stamped in Onyx Black VersaFine.

Up next...Jill's "Berry Bevy" inspiration!

For my card with Penny Black La Fleur Rouge, I've used a similar stamping technique as Elizabeth. I first inked my stamp with Tombow markers, misted with water and then stamped onto watercolor paper.  For additional blending, I then colored directly onto the paper with the markers and blended the color with a wet paintbrush. I also added a touch of blue to the background.

It's hard to believe Christmas is just a week away! We'll be back with one more "Penny Black Pairing" before Santa comes to town!

Welcome to a bouquet of holiday wishes.
Our next pairing features Penny Black's La Fleur Rouge.

The main panel of the card consists of a separate piece of white cardstock that is edged in Delicata Golden Glitz ink.  La Fleur Rouge was then inked with Tombow markers, misted with water and stamped on the panel.  The sentiment (Season's Gifts) was stamped in Onyx Black VersaFine.  The left edge of the panel was trimmed with a small strip of Sea Breeze cardstock.

To finish the card, the left edge of the card base was prepared with a small strip of Madison designer paper and then the completed panel from the previous step was attached with dimensional foam tape.

I loved how Elizabeth used turquoise with this featured stamp!  I also love how versatile these Tall Timbers are.  On these first two cards, I've used it as a simple border.

Our next Penny Black pairing features Tall Timbers.

The top portion of this card was stamped with Tall Timbers using turquoise ink.  The lower portion is a separate piece of white cardstock that has been vertically scored.  The sentiment stamped in black is matted with gold cardstock.  A thin strip of Madison designer paper creates a fun border between the two segments and a faux brad made by die cutting a small snowflake from Around Town adds a quick embellishment.

I love the elegance of this stamp and for my design I decided to keep things fairly simply.  I used Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils to color my image and background.  The music note background was stamped using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, removing some ink with a baby wipe before stamping. Finally, I embellished the card using May Arts twine and a stamped sentiment.

To kick off our series of Penny Black Pairings, we are stamping with the beautiful "Holly Tweet".

A few additions were made to the main card base.  At the top, an elevated banner was designed from Coco Style and Gentle Whisper patterned papers.  Then to balance the weight of the banner, a small strip of red cardstock was added along the bottom edge of the card.

Holly Tweet was stamped on watercolor paper in Desert Sand Memento ink.  The image was then watercolored and defined with PITT Pastel pencils.  After trimming the image, it was attached to the front of the prepared card base with dimensional foam tape.

Up next a "holly tweet" from Jill.

Out and About with Jill: 12 Days of Christmas with Feminine Twist

    I'm so excited to be...
... on the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom blog taking part in the wonderful 12 Days of Christmas with a Feminine Twist event.

As a guest of the fabulous Lisa Adametz, my challenge was to create a tag that fit the theme "Non-Traditional Colors and Texture."  Here's what I came up with...
The background of my tag was created by first applying texture paste through Penny Black's stencil, Holly Medley.  Once that was dry, I painted the background using Sakura Koi watercolors from the Field Sketch Box.  I then added Archival Ink onto the edges of the tag and a light layer over the textured background.  Torn cardstock provided a snowy ground for Penny Black's little girl, Mimi, to play.  :)  She is from the Penny Black transparent set, Twinkle and Wish.  I stamped her onto watercolor paper, painted the image with watercolors, and used Copic markers for her face.  I then fussy cut the image and added her to my tag.  Watercolored snowflakes, Penny Black Creative Die Snow Time, were added as a final embellishment.
TIP/HINT: to create even more additional texture, apply heat to the texture paste using a heat gun.  This will cause it to bubble slightly.  When watercolors are applied over the background they will settle around the bubbles for a unique look.

Thanks for stopping by... be sure to pop over to the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom to see what Lisa has designed using this same theme featuring Penny Black stamps and dies! (You will also find a complete list of supplies there, too.)

From This To That with Elizabeth

    Hello Everyone...
    Welcome to another segment of

    I started FROM THIS…
Inchie Arts NEW 2 x 4 Swatches in white and decorative paper napkins.

    …and transformed them TO THAT.
Let me pause for a moment to interject how much fun I had making these colorful little canvas cards.  Please keep my secret on how quick and easy these were to create.

Tall and narrow cards are some of my favorites and these Inchie Art Swatches snuggle on top of a 2.75 x 4.75 card base so lovely.

All you need to do is cut the napkin to the size of the Swatch and peel away the second ply of paper.  (You will want to use the top colorful portion.)  Paint a thin coat of matte medium (or Mod Podge) on the Swatches, apply the cut napkin and gently smooth the two together.  Let dry and add additional coats of matte medium.  I used a heat tool to speed up the process, but made sure not to have the heat too close to the Swatch to prevent the matte medium and napkin from bubbling/burning.  If you want to cut the napkin larger than the SWATCH, you can always trim away any excess after the piece has dried.

The Inchie Arts Swatches are fabulously sturdy and don’t warp when applying several layers of matte medium.  Plus, the sumptuous thickness gives the project nice dimension eliminating the need to use dimensional foam tape.

To finish the design, the edges of the Swatches were inked with Delicata Golden Glitz ink using the direct-to-paper method.

The cute little sentiment tabs were created by die cutting white labels (Penny Black - Tagged 51-007) and stamping the greetings (Penny Black - Snippets 30-283) in Onyx Black VersaFine.

Now you can use your decorative napkins
    to entertain AND craft!!
