STUDIO Spring Break

The birds are chirping and the sun is shining so we're headed out of the STUDIO to soak up the springtime fresh air.  Yep, it's time for a short spring break!

But that doesn't mean that the STUDIO stamping is on hold...you'll find lots of new projects from both of us on the Penny Black blog and Facebook page over the next couple of weeks so be sure to follow us there.

Speaking of new projects, here's a little peek just for you...
See you soon!

Out & About with Elizabeth

Hello Everyone!
Today I am
as a guest designer at
Ellen Hutson's CLASSroom.

I am sharing a dimensional project with a step-by-step photo tutorial.

Here's a little sneak peek.
I hope you can "book" some time to pop over to the CLASSroom to see the full reveal HERE.

Also, Ellen has a very generous surprise!

She will be giving away this fabulous collection of art products that were used in designing my project.  Simply leave a comment to win.
(A random winner will be selected from the comments left on this post.  Deadline to enter is March 19.  The lucky winner will be contacted by Ellen.)

And if you've found your way to the STUDIO for the first time today from the CLASSroom blog, I want to extend to you a BIG welcome!!  While here, feel free to poke around... you'll find stamped art from myself and my STUDIO partner, Jill Foster.   You can read more about our blogging approach HERE.  I hope you'll find our creative zone to be an inspirational and fun place to be!

Die Double Take III: Elizabeth

Don't adjust your computer screens.  You will not be seeing double.  It is our next event showcasing our POV's (Point of Views) of how the same same die cut can be used in two totally different colorful designs.

Penny Black Creative Dies 51-130 Geometrics and 51-125 Deco Frame

A little touch of the Orient was my inspiration for this card pairing bold geometric stenciling and die cutting.

Red, black and a touch of gold kept the color scheme simple yet bold.

Penny Black Creative Dies 51-130 Geometrics and 51-125 Deco Frame

For my bold and geometric design, I reached for 51-125 Deco Frame.  I love pairing a geometric design with stamps and dies inspired by nature.

This card began entirely as white cardstock and all of my backgrounds were inked with Ranger Archival inks using an ink blending tool and foam pads to apply the inks.  Stamping and die embellishments were added with the same inks but in a darker tone, creating the tone-on-tone floral background and butterflies.  All stamps and Creative Dies by Penny Black: 51-008 Bashful, 30-283 Snippets, 30-284 Sprigs, and 51-125 Deco Frame.

Penny Black Creative Die 51-117 Glamorous

As my love affair with watercolor continues, I've also started painting my die cuts!

Dr. PH Martin Hydrus watercolors were used to paint the featured die.  The vintage background was achieved by inking white cardstock with Ranger Archival inks and lightly stamping with Penny Black 1999L Letter Background and 30-274 Posted with Love.  The sentiment, Penny Black 30-286 Heartfelt, was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  I embellished this panel using tickets die cut from Penny Black Creative Die 51-048 Admit One, and the coordinating outer border of the ticket was stamped with VersaFine Smokey Grey ink (Penny Black 30-243 Amazing).  For a textural, tone-on-tone background, I layered white cardstock die cut with Penny Black 51-042 Petals onto my white notecard.

Wishing you a GLAMOROUS  and inky day! :)

Penny Black Creative Die 51-117 Glamorous

With just a touch of color, it is easy to bring
this "Glamorous" flower to life.

A few trimmings on the edges (Stitched Edges/Penny Black), a tiny bit of stenciling (Oscillations/Penny Black) and a sentiment (Heartfelt/Penny) and viola! you have a card.
