Brushstroke Bliss: 1 of 8: Elizabeth

Join us in the Studio as we play with Penny Black's new brushstroke stamps from their "Bliss" catalog.

Welcome to our brushstroke series!

My approach to creating the cards you will see over the next few weeks involved a very simple recipe of a single-layer card with one stamped image and one sentiment.

(Penny Black: Effulgent 40-539, Happy Wishes 30-419)
After three steps, I had a finished card in no time at all.

First, I placed the stamp in my MISTI stamping tool and inked the stamp with my lightest choices of Memento markers.  I "huffed" on each application of ink before it was applied to the cardstock.  I continued adding darker colors to build up the depth.

Second, I stamped my sentiment in Onyx Black VersaFine.

Third, I applied crystal Stickles to the flowers.

Easy elegance!

Here are two more variations where I introduced an additional layer, added a bit of patterned paper and changed the card size.

(Penny Black Sentiments: Birthday Love 30-413, Happy Wishes 30-419; Patterned Paper: Golden Moment 80-015)

Hugs & Kisses, 3 of 3: Jill

Here in the Studio we're kicking off 2017 with happiness, love, and hugs & kisses!
Okay, I just can't tell you how much fun I had painting this sweet kitty! I can't wait to have some time to try different color schemes with her adorable hoodie.
I stamped this furry friend using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink onto Canson 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper. I then used Distress Ink Reinkers as watercolors to paint her. Once dry I fussy cut her out.  The "ground" on the card was also painted in this way so the colors coordinated with her jacket.  The die cut background was inked with Wild Honey and Broken China Distress Inks along with Peanut Brittle Memento Ink using ink blending tools with foam pads.  I stamped my sentiment onto the background with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  Finally, using foam squares for extra dimension, I adhered the kitty and the die cut heart branch to my notecard. All stamps and dies by Penny Black: 51-298, 30-396, 51-097, 30-358.
Meow! We hope you've enjoyed this trio of XOXO posts from the Studio. And happy Valentine's Day from our hearts to yours.

Hugs & Kisses, 2 of 3: Elizabeth

Here in the Studio we're kicking off 2017 with happiness, love, and hugs & kisses!

Hugs and kisses are just too sweet not to share with friends!

(Filled with Love 51-284 by Penny Black)

These X's and O's are perfect for making Valentine party invitations.

A small rectangle die cut from the front of a white card base and edged with gold makes a great window for these rich, red letters.

The letters were die cut twice from red cardstock and then glued together for extra thickness.

Simply elegant yet easy to create multiples.

Wishing you a day filled with love.
